At Croft Meadows Farm, winter is warm, cosy and fun where you can heat up by the fireplace, and enjoy family favourite meals, piping hot cocoa, board games, and glasses of wine with your nearest and dearest at our self-catering holiday cottage nestled in the North Staffordshire countryside. Here are some tips to ensure a perfect winter weekend during your stay.
Go Outside

Yes, it’s winter, and it can get quite gloomy outside. Thankfully, the Peak District is one of the most beautiful places on earth, come rain or shine. Brisk wintertime walks through the countryside are a time-honoured tradition in the area, rewarding you with a different view of the area’s natural beauty. For the kids, create a scavenger hunt to get them outside with fun clues that’ll lead them to snacks (and maybe even a new DVD if you’re looking for some alone time). Just remember to have a thermos of hot chocolate on-hand for warmth and energy.
Cottage Cuisine
The Cottage at Croft Meadows Farm is a self-catering cottage, so you can add your own romantic twist to your getaway by cooking a meal with your loved one. Remember that there’s nothing quite like a warm comforting bowl of soup or stew made from fresh local produce. If you’re in a mood for sweets, look at baking some delectable delights that’ll fill the holiday cottage with inviting aromas such as sticky cinnamon rolls, brownies, or a classic Victoria Sponge.

There’s nothing better for setting the mood than a roaring fire in a cosy fireplace. Amidst the romantic glow, remember to choose activities you can do snuggled close to your loved one. Curl up together under a quilt, pour some wine or champagne and reminisce, watch a favourite movie, listen to an interesting podcast, or simply enjoy the chance for quiet time together with the sound of crackling fire filling the air.
